We often think we understand our minds well, but do we? We mainly know our minds through thoughts, feelings, senses, memories, and imagination. Beyond that, we know very little. Before discussing the mind further, let’s consider what the Chinese Zen Buddhism Master Huang Po said about “The Mind.”
People in the world cannot
identify their own mind.
They believe that what
they see, or hear, or feel,
or know, is mind.
They are blocked by the visual,
the auditory, the tactile, and the mental,
so they cannot see the
brilliant spirit of their Original Mind.
